Health Travel Tips: In-Flight Comfort

Posted by Natasha Jervis on 14 June 2012

Are you tired of arriving in your destination de-hydrated, cramped and grumpy? Well, stop here! Canada Travels has some very important in-flight travel and health tips for you to consider when you are preparing for your next adventure into the open skies.

A vacation should start as you board the plan, not after a shower, drink and nap at your destination hotel. Make sure you are ready for your next flight and stay comfortable, relaxed and soothed as you fly 35,000 feet in the air. It is possible to arrive refreshed, rejuvenated and energized for fun! Make sure you check out these health travel tips below and stay healthy!

#1: Try to be as healthy as possible before you travel. Try to take really good care of yourself before your actual flight. Do whatever you have to do to avoid unhealthy situations or people because once your in the air, 35,000 feet in the air, a cold can become much more severe and can even turn into a respiratory illness.

#2: Take supplements before and during your travels. Take vitamin C, drink green tea and take a multi-vitamin. Basic supplements can mean the world of difference and can give your body the defense power it needs to fight off airborne illnesses.

#3: Water is your friend. Drink lots of water while flying and keep your body hydrated as much as possible. If you keep your body hydrated you will feel more awake and rejuvenated when you arrive in your destination of choice.

#4: Stretch in the cabin. Don't get in the way of the crew, but when the seat belt sign is off, walk around the cabin a bit to stretch your legs and keep your blood flowing.

#5: Avoid alcohol. Alcohol dehydrates you and will leave you feeling lifeless and glum. You may enjoy margarita's in the sky, but when you arrive in your destination, you'll feel anything but refreshed.

#6: Bring some light snacks along. Bring trail mix, some nuts, raisins or anything light that you can snack on for energy. This will give you the strength you need to keep going when you arrive in your vacation destination.

#7: Don't forget your medication! When traveling make sure you bring any important medication onto the flight. You just never know when you might need it!
