Cordoba

spain2

Alive with history and rich with astonishing architecture, Cordoba should not be overlooked when in Spain.  The statuesque and charming city of Cordoba is colourfully decorated with Andalucian whitewashed walls, the world’s third largest mosque, fun tapas bars, authentic Spanish restaurants and is home to the famous Jewish Quarter.

Smaller than its neighbouring cities, Seville and Granada, Cordoba was registered as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1984 and attracts travelers from all over as they are trekking through Spain.  As visitors tour the quaint town they will notice a repetition of houses containing colourful fountains and courtyards. Annually, there is a fun patio challenge and competition where home owners allow the public to visit their patios and view their personally designed fountains and flower displays.

It is a small city to discover, yet still has the same focus and cultural experiences all Andalucian towns have to offer. Namely; tapas, flamenco dance moves, matadors, annual festivals and exquisite Spanish cuisine. Don’t miss out on Cordoba’s signature dish known as salmorejo, which is a thick cold soup made from vinegar, garlic, puréed tomato and bread. Ole!
