ClimateTravel by Air: Turkmenistan Airline, the national carrier, has flights in to Ashbagat International from Abu Dabi (2 hours), Damascus and Istanbul; from Karachi (4 ½ hours) , Delhi, Moscow (3 ½ hours) and Kyiv; and from London (6 ½ hours) and Birmingham. Asseman Airlines from Tehran (1 hour), Lufthansa from Frankfurt and Turkish Airlines from Istanbul also fly here. Foreigners pay up to ten times the fare that nationals do. Buses and taxis wait to take you to your hotel. Turkmenistan Airlines also flies to several main cities within the country.
