People and Culture: The traditional Samoan society is centred around their chiefs and ancestors. Aiga, the extended family, is a strong influence in their lives. Celebrations involve traditional dress and dance. Sunday is respected as a holy day and evening prayers are held daily. It is important to be aware of this so as not to disturb them. Both Somoan and English are spoken on the islands

Food: Most international cuisine is available here. Umu or pit cooking is a traditional cooking method used on the islands. Bananas, coconuts, pork, chicken and seafood are often used in Samoan recipes. Kava is a ceremonial drink served by the locals at ceremonial get-togethers.
