People and CulturePeople and Culture: There are a number of ethnic groups making up the Gabonese nation, the largest component being the Fang. Although the nation is predominantly Christian, traditional beliefs and customs are strongly adhered to and practiced. The official language is French but most of the inhabitants speak Fang. Traditional crafts include woodcarving and mask-making. Western collectors regard the Gabonese carved wood pieces and masks highly. The masks are used in traditional funeral ceremonies. You can enjoy the tribal dancing and music, festive costumes - true African style.
