Greenland

Greenland is self governed, but forms part of the Kingdom of Denmark. It has a rugged landscape with a permanently frozen interior, forcing the inhabitants to live on the coast. If you're planning a trip to the world's largest island, you're in for awesome scenery, an arctic climate (brrrrr....), ice caps, the Northern Lights and midnight sun during the summer months. With a variety of snow adventures, hiking, trekking and cruises snaking their way between icebergs, this destination is unusual. You can make the magical ice hotel your home for a while and sip drinks iced with bits from thousand year old glaciers. Extreme adventure seekers can cross the ice cap. The not so crazy can enjoy whale watching, dog sled racing, stroll past colourful wooden houses and visit the ruins of Viking settlements.
