Destination Cities: Doha is the center of tourism and main hub for inbound flights. It boasts a spectacular bay and tree-lined park. The Qatar National Museum is in this city and has displays of Islam, desert life, ancient sea-faring and an Aquarium. Umm Salal Ali, a town north of Doha, has been noted for its ancient burial mounds. These probably date back to pre-Islamic times, as early as 3000 B.C.
Points of Interest: Al-Khor is a coastal town 65 km. north of Doha. While it is not a place for tourists to stay, it has a splendid view of the ocean and some historical ruins dating back to the 14th Century. The environment can make most physical activities such as hiking and bicycling difficult, some people head to the south toward Salwafor a desert excursion. The inland sea, Khor Al-Udeid, is located at the extreme south-east end of the country and is a great spot for camping, bird-watching and enjoying the outdoors.
