![]() Asia The riches of India are more than a lifetime can compass. Follow the Ganges from the Himalayas to its mouth on the Bay of Bengal. The very popular Golden Triangle around Delhi, with the Taj Mahal at Agra, the cities of Mumbai and Kolkata (Calcutta), the holy city of Varanasi are entrancing. Treks in the Ladakh region range in duration and difficulty. There's a great view of the Thar Desert region from atop your safari camel. Relax on the beach in Goa, golf in Gulmarg, the highest course in the world. For more passion, go north to Russia - the people are as warm as the winters are cold. The west is Europe-Moscow, St. Petersburg, with their historic architecture and museums. The east is Kyrgyzstan, where trekking, climbing and mountaineering are increasingly accessible. China is a hot travel destination. Yangxe river tours make a great match with a visit to the Great Wall - access both from Beijing, where you must also see the Forbidden Palace. The Army of Terracotta Warriors is at Xi'an. If you haven't shopped in Hong Kong, you haven't shopped. Japan's treasures include incredible gardens-Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka are superb-and fabulous textiles (visit the Kyoto Costume Institute). Indonesia is still wonderful for fun and relaxation. The beaches of Bali are just one of many great choices. Singapore and Malaysia is are welcoming countries with much to see. |
