As you sit on a dazzling white sand beach gazing at the sparkling azure water, it's easy to imagine the scene that welcomed Columbus when he dropped anchor here in 1492. It's surprising he ever sailed away given what's available: 60 kilometres of fine sand, amazing coral reefs, soaring cliffs, rich vegetation, along with 34 rivers, 6 waterfalls, and 19 historical and cultural sites.

Okay, so Columbus might've pre-dated those historical and cultural sites, but we're sure he appreciated the rest.
